James City County will begin restoration of a stream channel in the Scott’s Pond neighborhood Monday, August 2.  Environmental Quality Resources, LLC (EQR) will restore 1,000 linear feet of eroding stream channels in the unnamed tributary to Powhatan Creek below Prime Outlets, on either side of Rockingham Drive.  Once complete, the restored stream will be able to survive large storms without further loss of property and sediment, resulting in improved water clarity.  Clean water and stable stream banks will provide a haven for wildlife in the Scott’s Pond common areas.

Prime Outlets provided a $200,000 contribution to James City County for the $275,000 stream restoration project. The County’s stormwater (water quality) capital budget provided the remaining funds.

The contractor estimates that construction and plantings will be finished by the end of 2010.
