When James City County citizens go to the polls on Election Day - November 2, 2010 - they will be asked to vote on the following question:
“Shall James City County, Virginia, contract a debt and issue its general obligation bonds in a principal amount not to exceed $30,000,000 pursuant to the Public Finance Act of 1991, as amended, for the purpose of financing a portion of the cost of stormwater management projects?”
To provide information to citizens on stormwater management, proposed County projects and general obligation bonds, the County has set up a web page at jccEgov.com/stormwaterbond.
Visitors to the page will find a variety of materials including:
- A comprehensive “Frequently Asked Questions” flyer and fact sheet that covers general obligation bonds and proposed projects
- A map of the proposed projects identified and prioritized by the Stormwater Program Advisory Committee
- Videos on stormwater and the referendum including archived footage of Board of Supervisors discussions
Printed materials are available in County offices and at the James City County Library. Citizens can also find Information on JCC TV on Cox Cable, and on the County’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
In addition to the web page, County staff members are available to speak to local neighborhoods and organizations about the referendum. Anyone interested can contact Tressell Carter, Civic Engagement Coordinator, at (757) 259-4986 or email@example.com for details.
