Assistant building officials hired
James City County Development Manager, Steven W. Hicks is pleased to announce that Wayne L. Ricker and David Wolfe Kent have been hired to fill the assistant building official positions in the Building Safety and Permits Division. These individuals will share the duties formerly handled by the chief plans examiner and the chief building inspector.
Ricker is a Certified Building Official and is International Code Council certified for plan review and inspections in building, electrical and plumbing. Ricker has worked in code enforcement since 1997, as a building subcode official in Vernon, NJ, as an assistant building official for the City of Williamsburg and more recently as a third party combination inspector for CTI Consultants, Inc.
Kent is a licensed architect in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. In addition, he is a LEED accredited professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and interested in sustainable design.
Kent has 20 years experience as an architect in private practice and 10 years experience as a capital outlay project manager with the Commonwealth of Virginia at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Old Dominion University and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Kent grew up on the Peninsula and has lived in Williamsburg for 20 years. He obtained his architecture degree from The University of Virginia, and a Master of Business Administration from The College of William & Mary.
