JCC Police arrest man for soliciting a child over the Internet

On Dec. 16, Charles Frank Canale Jr, 31 of W. Ocean View Ave in Norfolk was arrested and charged by the James City County Police with six counts of use of communications systems to solicit with lascivious intent a child less than 15 (Va Code Section 18.2-374.3) and two counts of attempting to take indecent liberties with a child (Va Code Section 18.2-26/18.2-370).

Investigation revealed that from Nov. 30 to Dec. 15, Canale, using the name “Chuck C,” engaged an undercover officer using the persona of a 14 year old girl, in a chat room on the Internet. During these chats, Canale made numerous propositions of sexual acts and sent a digital image of his penis to the undercover officer. Canale agreed to travel from Norfolk to James City County this evening to meet who he believed to be a 14 year old girl for sexual acts. Canale was arrested and taken into custody when he arrived at the meet location.

Canale, who is a Cryptological Analyst for the US Navy stationed aboard the USS Elrod, is currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
