New traffic signal installed at the Centerville/Longhill Road intersection
Signal scheduled for full activation on October 4, 2011

JAMES CITY COUNTY — On Friday, September 30, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will activate a new traffic signal at the intersection of Centerville Road (Route 614) and Longhill Road (Route 612) in James City County.

An engineering study of traffic conditions, pedestrian characteristics and physical characteristics of the location was conducted. It was determined that signal installation would improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.

Beginning mid-morning tomorrow, Friday, September 30, the signals will be activated to flashing yellow on Centerville Road and flashing red on Longhill Road. Motorists traveling on Centerville Road are to yield and then proceed with caution, while traffic on Longhill Road will be required to stop and then proceed with caution.

On Tuesday, October 4, the signal will become fully activated with green, yellow, and red functionality for motorists traveling on both Route 614 and Route 612.

For information about traffic conditions, dial 511 or visit www.511va.com. Motorists can also call VDOT’s Hampton Roads Traffic Line at 757-361-3016 for the Highway Advisory Radio transmission from 610AM.
