The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has released the 2011 surface treatment schedule for secondary roads and subdivision roads in James City County. A complete listing of the designated roads is available online at www.jamescitycountyva.gov/surfacetreatment.
Surface treatment is an emulsified asphalt product designed to extend the life of asphalt pavement. Prior to surface treating a road, VDOT maintenance crews patch existing pot holes and perform any other needed maintenance. A well constructed surface treatment can increase the life of a pavement up to seven years. In addition to sealing cracks, surface treatment provides a skid resistant surface for good wet-weather traction.
For further information on the 2011 surface treatment schedule or for any maintenance concerns citizens may contact VDOT at 1-800-FOR-ROAD.
