James City County’s Jamestown Beach Park, located at 2205 Jamestown Road across from Jamestown Settlement, will reopen on May 22 following extensive shoreline restoration work. The park features a newly restored beach front, completed through a $100,000 Living Shoreline grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust.
Over the years, this popular shoreline segment has been adversely impacted by waves and major storm events. Restoration work included installation of an offshore breakwater and spur and sand fill work, all of which will minimize the impact of waves as they approach the shoreline. Along with a spectacular waterfront view, the park also grilling opportunities and shaded picnic areas.
The park is open year round from 8 a.m. to sunset. For more information, visit www.jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation or call 757-259-5360.
