To help Homeowners Associations (HOA), local developers, contractors and management companies learn about stormwater management and required facilities, James City County is offering a Stormwater Management Workshop, February 9, 6 – 8 p.m. at the James City/Williamsburg Community Center, Room B, 5301 Longhill Road. Management of stormwater runoff affects neighborhoods and homes but it’s also a major source of pollution in County creeks and local rivers that feed the Chesapeake Bay.
The workshop will cover the importance of Stormwater Management Facilities (SWMF) such as ponds, lakes and other Best Management Practices (BMPs), how they are constructed, what they do and how to maintain them. As a SWMF owner, a neighborhood, HOA or management company can also learn their responsibilities, potential costs and get maintenance tips. Speakers will include Steve Weekly, Aquatic Resource Management Inc, who will discuss healthy ponds and lakes.
Anyone interested in attending should Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or call Pat Menichino, County Stormwater Specialist at (757) 259-1443 February 7, as seating is limited.
