Balloon test set for proposed nTelos tower on Route 199

nTelos will be conducting a balloon test from approximately 8 a.m.-10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, to simulate the height of a 130- and 150-foot-tall wireless communications facility (tower). The test will take place on the east side of Route 199 across from Ford’s Colony between Eastern State Hospital and New Town, Sections 7 and 8, which is the site of the proposed tower. The test was requested by the Board of Supervisors during their Sept. 11 meeting to gain additional information before they consider approving the project. In case of unfavorable weather conditions, the balloon test will be held Friday, Sept. 21 during the same times listed above.

The property is further identified as James City County RE Tax Map 3820100005 and may be found by accessing the County’s property information link at jamescitycountyva.gov. Maps showing the site of the balloon test are available from the County’s Planning Division, 101-A Mounts Bay Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185. Call the County’s Planning Division at 757-253-6685 for further information.
