Structure fire on Barnes Road in James City County

Barnes Road fire

 

Fire and EMS units from the James City-Bruton Volunteer and James City County Fire Departments responded at 10:02 a.m. on Nov. 29 to a structure fire at 9180 Barnes Rd. in western James City County. First arriving units on scene reported a single story residential structure with smoke and flames showing and extending into the attic.

 

The occupants were outside the structure and confirmed no one else was in the residence. The fire was knocked down and incident was reported under control within 20 minutes. The James City County Fire Marshal’s office began their investigation as to the cause of the fire before overhaul of the structure was started. The Red Cross was notified and is working with the resident to provide assistance.

 

The Fire Marshal’s Office investigation is continuing at this time.
