James City County storm update

County officials are reporting that high moving water crossing Cranston’s Mill Pond Road. Motorists are asked to avoid that roadway and use alternate routes. The Powhatan Shores neighborhood is also reporting flooding and public safety crews are on the way to the area.  

The County remains in contact with the National Weather Service at Wakefield, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the Virginia Department of Transportation and Dominion Virginia Power for the latest local updates.

County residents should sign up to receive local emergency alert information at Text messaging charges may apply.
