JAMESTOWN-SCOTLAND FERRY RESUMES NORMAL FERRY SERVICE
JAMES CITY COUNTY- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has resumed full service of the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry as of 3:30 p.m. today, Oct. 28. The Williamsburg and Pocahontas vessels are currently in service carrying motorists across the James River.
Crews will closely monitor evening high tides at the Ferry this evening. Additionally, any decision to close the facility will take into account the onset of tropical force wind speeds of 39 miles-per-hour that are expected to worsen, current and projected rain bands, storm surge and traffic conditions.
Service at the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry was temporarily reduced from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. today due to high tides.
For updates on ferry service, motorists can call the ferry hotline at 1-800-VA-FERRY. For more information about other VDOT maintained roads, motorists can tune into 1680AM, dial 511 or visit www.VDOT.Virginia.gov.
