Kidsburg Design Review
The new conceptual design for Mid County Parks’ Kidsburg playground will be the focus of the July 18 James City County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meeting. The meeting will be held at the James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Road. The regular meeting briefly convenes at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Kidsburg presentation. The public is invited to view the designs as well as ask questions and make comments. The new designs will be posted online at jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation July 20-Aug. 3. The construction contract for the project was awarded to Cunningham Recreation. Designs for the renovated Park Office will also be available for review during the meeting.
Mid-County Park, built in 1995, is undergoing renovations to address several critical issues including aging equipment, safety and parking. As part of the project, park amenities will shift from organized team sports to more community recreation such as picnics, family and individual ball play, kite-flying and other like activities. Many features of the park including the basketball, tennis and volleyball courts and the walking trail, will remain.
