James City County Recreation Center, New Name
The Community Center has a new name. The former James City/Williamsburg Community Center has changed its name to the James City County Recreation Center (JCCRC). The change is prompted by the recent agreement between the County and the City of Williamsburg to discontinue the City’s partnership in the Center. Since the facility has operated solely as a County facility for many years, the new name more accurately reflects Center operations.
"Except for new signage, customers should see no changes," says John Carnifax, Director of Parks and Recreation. "Our quality customer service and facility amenities will remain the same."
City patrons will continue to pay the resident fee level and receive the same services offered to County residents. JCCRC facility and class information is available in the Parks and Recreation Activity Brochure found at jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation or pick up copies in the Center, Satellite Services in Toano or at the libraries.
The changeover to the new name will be gradual. As routine Center purchases are made, the name change will be implemented.
