James City County Police seek help identifying car thief

James City County Police are seeking help from the public in identifying a suspect who stole a blue 2007 Chevrolet 1500 Crew Cab pickup truck from a residence in James City County on Dec. 18.

The vehicle was taken from a driveway at a residence in the early morning hours of Dec. 18. The vehicle was later recovered on Dec. 19 at the 7-Eleven located at 715 Kecoughtan Rd. in Hampton. The suspect drove up to the gas pumps at 6:30 a.m., went inside and paid for gas. When he went to pump the gas the pump did not work and he fled the area on foot, leaving the vehicle at the pumps. The black male suspect was captured on the store’s surveillance camera. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
