Virginians cannot vote early without a reason

Virginia voters will go to the polls next Tuesday, Nov. 6, but contrary to news reports, they cannot vote early without a reason. According to James City County Voter Registrar, Alan J. “AJ” Cole, some residents are hearing they can vote now.  “Virginians can vote by absentee ballot by mail or in person with a legitimate reason, otherwise, they must vote next Tuesday,” says Cole. “We’ve had some voters showing up at our office saying they heard through national media that they can vote now and unfortunately we’ve had to turn them away.”

James City County voters can find out more about next Tuesday’s election by calling 253-6868 or visiting the County’s registrar’s website.
