Search suspended for missing 18-year-old James City County swimmer

On May 28 at 2:15 p.m, Trevor Times, 18 was reportedly swimming with some friends in the College Creek located off the Colonial Parkway in James City County. He was trying to swim to a sand bar 75 yards off shore when witnesses reported seeing him in trouble and go under water. Times is a Senior at Jamestown High School. This area is a popular swimming spot but is posted with signs warning of the danger of a strong rip tide, deep water, and that it is unsafe for swimming or wading.

James City County Police and Fire Marine Units and Dive Teams responded and conducted a search and rescue operation. The operation changed to a recovery operation with the assistance of the Virginia Marine Resource Commission and US Coast Guard. The recovery operation had to be suspended at 8:15 p.m. due to darkness and will resume in the morning.
