55-year-old Lanexa man injured in motorcycle crash in JCC

At 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 28, James City County Police responded to motorcycle-vehicle crash in the 6900 block of Richmond Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 55-year-old Lanexa man was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Richmond Road and hit a 2005 Buick sedan that was coming out of the Colonial Towne Shopping Plaza. The Buick, driven by an 88-year-old Hopewell woman, pulled out in front of the motorcycle to cross Richmond Road to make a left turn.

The motorcycle driver was flown by Nightengale to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Buick and a passenger, her 83-year-old sister from Prince George, were transported by ambulance to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. A third passenger, the driver’s twin sister, was not injured.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Helen Christine Cibula. She was charged with failure to yield the right of way. The crash remains under investigation.
