Jolly Pond Road to temporarily close for dam repairs

Beginning Oct. 22, a portion of Jolly Pond Road will temporarily close to allow Technical Foundations Inc. crews to perform needed repairs to Jolly Pond Road Dam.

Indirectly related to the recent armoring work to the downstream face of the dam, internal repairs to the dam itself will be made by pressure injection grouting. The grout injected into the dam will fill voids and replace porous materials with impermeable grout which will prevent seepage of water through the dam. Excess seepage of water through the dam can cause soil to wash out internally, causing failure of the dam.

Once completed, this grouting project will minimize seepage of water through the dam and prevent future soil loss.

Work is expected to be completed and Jolly Pond Road will reopen to traffic by Oct. 25. For more information, call 757-259-4117.
