Repairs completed ahead of schedule, Jolly Pond Road reopened

Crews have completed needed repairs to Jolly Pond Road Dam and Jolly Pond Road has reopened four days ahead of schedule.

On June 7, a large rain event caused the pond to overflow across the road between the two spillways. As a result, soil, concrete blocks and bricks from a previous private repair on the downstream face of the dam eroded. Crews armored the dam face with underlayment cloth and Class I Rip-Rap, a larger stone material which can withstand the force of water flooding across the dam.

Crews also completed needed shoulder repairs in the same area and around the spillway.

This erosion and sediment control project will prevent further damage during similar rain events in the future.
