Black Settlement Presentation and Book Signing (all ages), Free

REC Connect

Summer Camp
Summer camp is still available, open to youth ages 5-14 who’ve completed kindergarten. Camp is held Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. through Aug. 23 at five elementary schools and Berkeley Middle School. Weekly full-time fee (4-5 days) is $90/week ($85 for JC/W residents) and part-time (3 days or less) $70/week ($65 for JC/W residents). Field trips fees are extra. There is a $10 discount available for second and subsequent children attending full time. Registrations accepted on a space available basis. Summer Adventures Wrap-Up! (grades 1-8)

Before & After School 2013-2014
Register by Aug. 2 to guarantee placement in your favorite REC Connect Before and After School Program! The program is open to youth ages 5-14, enrolled in grades K-8. The program, which runs Sept. 3 through the end of the school year, is held Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. until school start and school dismissal to 6 p.m. The before and after school program is offered in all WJCC elementary schools; an after school program only is held for middle schools students at Berkeley (Toano and Hornsby students are transported to Berkeley). Discover the Beauty Inside (girls ages 11-14)

Days of Discovery Camp (ages 5-21 with disabilities)

Norge Elementary School
This exciting summer camp experience provides fun and structured activities for participants with disabilities. Sessions include arts and crafts, swimming, outdoor play, gym games and community outings to enhance socialization and leisure skills. Sign up for single or multiple weeks! Heritage Humane Society Animal Camp (ages 5-9)

Join Heritage Humane Society for the popular Animal Camp! Children will learn animal safety, responsible pet guardianship and about all kinds of animals from pets to wildlife. Activities include underwater performance and basic synchronized swimming skills in the pool, mermaid themed crafts, mermaid makeovers and more. New technology has made Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP) even easier! Lessons cover all the basics as well as safety, strokes, balance and include a shorter tour. New This Year: girls and boys only camps! We’ve teamed up with the Virginia Legacy Soccer Club to bring you the best soccer camps available on the peninsula. These week-long camps include instruction on the fundamentals of soccer and are designed to meet the needs of beginner, developmental, recreational and advanced players. All players receive a Legacy Soccer Camp shirt. Daily activities rotate indoors and outdoors and allow time to use the JCCRC indoor swimming pool. Each camp has a full day or half day option. Learn To Swim
Open registration held Aug. 26-Sept. 6. After you have successfully passed a class, you can register for the next level during this two-week open registration period. If you’re unsure of your or your child’s swimming needs or level, attend one of the FREE swim evaluations on Tuesday, Sept. 3 or Wednesday, Sept. 4, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the James City County Recreation Center.
