Family Fun Night

Break out of the winter blahs and have some fun with your family! Join us for a night of family entertainment including structured games in the gym, craft projects, swimming in the pool and playing racquetball, old-fashioned board games and more! Easter Egg Extravaganza, FREE!

Over 10,000 eggs for the hunts! Hunts are divided by age and will be held on the soccer fields at the Warhill Sports Complex and at the James River Community Center. Also enjoy face painting, inflatable rides and more! Bring your Easter basket and camera! Info: or call 757-259-4200.

Capture the Theme
Calling all amateur photographers! Come explore Chickahominy Riverfront Park in this monthly photo contest! Pysanka: Eastern European Folk Art (ages 9-12)
Tuesdays, March 19-April 16 (no class 4/2), 5-7 p.m.

Learn a century-old process used in Poland, Czechoslovakia, Lithuania and Germany that transforms emptied eggshells into colorful treasures! 4-H Companion Dog Training (ages 9-18), New
Tuesdays, March 5, 12, 26 & April 9, 16, 23 & 30, 6-7:30 p.m.

Teach your dog to become an AKC Canine Good Citizen. Dogs can learn how to accept friendly strangers, sit politely for petting and interact with other dogs. After the completion of this course and successful Canine Good Citizen certification, you’ll be eligible to join the 4-H PetPals Club which shares dogs within the community. Beginning Spinning Workshop (ages 12+)

Learn about yarn from plant and animal fibers (goats, alpaca, cotton and flax plants). Prepare fiber for spinning and spin wool fibers on a spindle. Ladies, join the Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association’s (EVMA) Dirt Divas on a woman’s-only mountain bike ride! Explore the trail system at Freedom Park, meet fellow female riders in the community and learn the ins-and-outs of mountain biking. Spring Break Offerings

Youth, grades K-5
Need safe, dependable and fun care for your child over spring break? Registration is underway for the REC Connect program for youth in grades K-5. The program runs Monday-Friday, April 1-5, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at Clara Byrd Baker, Norge and Rawls Byrd elementary schools. For fees and registration details, visit or call the Info Line at 757-259-3170. Kidz Clay Camp (ages 9-14)

Teens (grades 6-12). Register by March 29 for all activities! Program is held Monday-Friday, April 1-5, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and meets daily at the James City County Recreation Center. Affordable rates. Daily activities/field trips include Pottery Creations at the All Fired Up paint your pottery art studio; Nautical Adventures at Nauticus to tour the largest battleship built by the US Navy; Animal Explorations to see over 2,000 animals representing 400 species at the National Zoo in Washington, DC; Big Catch for outdoor activities, fishing and crabbing at Chickahominy Riverfront Park; and Bring it On to experience the extreme adventures of go-kart racing at G-Force Karts in Richmond. Learn To Swim Programs
Open registration held March 20-April 5. After you have successfully passed a class, you can register for the next level during this two-week open registration period. If you’re unsure of your or your child’s swimming needs or level, attend a FREE swim evaluations on Tuesday, March 26 or Wednesday, March 27, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the James City County Recreation Center.
