James City County Parks and Recreation Mid County Park reopens

Mid County Park is set to reopen on Thursday, Aug. 29. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the park, located at 3793 Ironbound Rd. Significant rainfall has played a major role in the delayed renovation of the park.

To meet ADA guidelines for public-use playgrounds, the old Kidsburg structure was removed and a new structure built. The new Kidsburg features two separate play areas – one for ages 2-5 and another for ages 5-12.

In addition to the playground, a new park office was constructed with improved restroom facilities, a vending area and a small meeting room designed for programming and community use. Both picnic shelters were painted and a new roof installed.

Reservations for the park’s community room and picnic shelters will also be accepted beginning Aug. 29.

For more information on the park projects, call 757-259-5412 or email nancy.ellis@jamescitycountyva.gov.
