James City County Recreation Center closed Nov. 5 for election voting

The James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Rd., will be closed Election Day, Nov. 5. As the polling place for the Jamestown B and Jamestown D districts, the location historically has a high turnout and parking will be limited.

Front desk operations as well as classes and activities scheduled for Nov. 5 have been canceled. All Center passholders will be notified of the closure. The James River Community Center in Grove operates on regular schedule.

All weekly late fees for the REC Connect program will be waived until 10 a.m. on Nov. 8. After that time, a punch card would need to be purchased for the following week. REC Connect patrons who prefer to register in-person on Tuesday can do so at any other payment location during regular operating hours – Freedom Park, 5537 Centerville Rd., Satellite Services, 3127 Forge Rd., and the James River Community Center, 8901 Pocahontas Trl. Program clients can also make payments online or by phone 757-887-5810 from 4-8 p.m. For more information, call 757-259-5351, email or visit
