Retro Daddio celebrates ribbon cutting and grand opening
James City County is pleased to announce that Retro Daddio celebrated its ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The newest tenant of Main Street in New Town, Retro Daddio is located at 5100 Main St.
Jen Thurman, owner of Retro Daddio, first opened the store as an online shop in 2010. The Main Street location is the store’s first brick-and-mortar store. The hours are Monday through Saturday 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday noon-6 p.m. Thurman will continue to operate the business online as well.
Retro Daddio features an eclectic variety of retro memorabilia including home accessories, jewelry, novelty items and signs. With the goal of offering customers “fun, funky, and functional stuff,” Retro Daddio carries Elvis Presley, Beatles and Star Trek products as well as Marilyn Monroe and Wizard of Oz items. The store will continue to expand its selection of merchandise and also include seasonal items.
The ribbon cutting featured brief remarks by Roberts District Supervisor and Board of Supervisors Chairman John McGlennon and Jamestown Supervisor Jim Icenhour. McGlennon stated, “It’s a pleasure to welcome another new business to the vibrant New Town area. I expect Retro Daddio to find great success with its eclectic offerings of nostalgia.” Icenhour added, "Retro Daddio's is a trip down memory lane for us seniors, and an interesting educational experience for younger folks. It is a really neat addition to our community."
