County Convenience Centers accept all non-Styrofoam plastic for recycling
James City County residents wishing to recycle more of their used plastics may now bring them to the County’s three Convenience Centers. The Centers will accept plastics #1 through #5 and #7 in any shape. The curbside recycling program currently accepts only plastics #1 and #2 with a neck. Styrofoam (plastic #6) is not currently accepted for recycling with the County.
The Convenience Centers are located at 1204 Jolly Pond Rd., 107 Tewning Rd. and 185 Industrial Blvd.
Plastic caps and cap rings may be left on bottles. Washing out used containers is not necessary for recycling. Plastic motor oil containers and used pizza boxes cannot be recycled.
For information on the Convenience Centers’ hours of operation and a complete list of recyclable items, visit the County’s website or call 757-565-0971.
