Thinking Rural – Discussion Sessions


James City County and the Virginia Cooperative Extension invite you to help define what “rural” means to the County; identify community preferences for rural lands uses; and give feedback on County rural lands policies, programs and procedures. Come to one of the Thinking Rural – Discussion Sessions to provide input.

Wednesday, July 17
6 p.m. for refreshments
6:30-9 p.m. for discussion session

Thursday, July 18
7:30 a.m. for continental breakfast
8-10:30 a.m. for discussion session
James City County Recreation Center Room C

If you can’t attend a session, there are other ways to submit your comments. The discussion questions will be available later this week.

If you missed the Understanding Rural – Expert Panel, you can view a recording on the County’s YouTube channel – – or on a DVD that can be checked out from the James City County Library or Williamsburg Library. Watch on your own or host your HOA, club or organization for a video viewing and discussion party. Resource packets and discussion questions are available online at 


Finally, keep submitting those photos of what “rural” means to you. The deadline is July 12, 2013 and everyone who submits a photo will be entered into a random drawing for a donated local business gift basket. The photos will be used at Thinking Rural to help define what “rural” means to James City County.
