JCC Police identify homicide victim – Arrests made
At 6:39 p.m., on Saturday, July 27, James City County Police responded to a home in the 100 block of Teal Way in the Season’s Trace subdivision in James City County in reference to the discovery of a dead female inside of a residence. Police found evidence of an apparent struggle and are investigating the death of the 42-year old woman as a homicide. The body of the victim was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond to confirm the identification of the deceased and determine the cause of death. An autopsy was completed on July 29 and the victim was positively identified as Dana Patterson Mackay, 42. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The victim’s husband, John Wayne Mackay, 42 of JCC has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. He is a Staff Sergeant in the US Army stationed at Ft Eustis.
Nicole Michelle Houchin, 35 of Ft Eustis has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and first degree murder.
John Mackay and Houchin were admittedly having an affair with each other. Both suspects are currently being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
