2013 Chairman’s Awards honor police investigator and community activist

Former Board Chairman Jim Kennedy presented his 2013 Chairman’s Awards during the Jan. 14 Board of Supervisors meeting to Police Investigator Bill Gibbs and community activist Robin Bledsoe. Both were honored for their contributions and service to James City County and the community.
Investigator Gibbs has been with the County’s Police Department since 1984. He specializes in Internet crime and fraud investigations. He serves on the FBI’s Innocent Images Task Force and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force which investigate crimes involving child pornography. Over the years, Gibbs has received recognition for his investigations into child predator cases and is frequently asked by the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, along with Adult Protective Services, to investigate complex fraud cases and Internet based crimes.
Robin Bledsoe, known for her community involvement, was honored for Hiking for Virginia Fallen Heroes, her personal journey to honor 204 Virginia men and women who lost their lives in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In August of 2013, Bledsoe began to hike 204 Virginia trails in their honor and shares her experience with 3,023 social media followers. To date, Bledsoe has hiked over 400 miles and is halfway to completion.
