51-year old James City County woman dies in fatal car crash

At 9 p.m., on Saturday, March 15, James City County Police responded to single-vehicle car crash in the 9500 block of Barnes Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Mazda Protégé was traveling north on Barnes Road when the vehicle swerved left and then over-corrected sliding off the roadway and striking a tree. The driver was killed on impact.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Bridgette Rogers, 51 of James City County. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and speed is not believed to have been a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.
