Jody Puckett, Communications Director
School Site Selection Committee appointed
Acting James City County Administrator, Doug Powell, has appointed a School Site Selection Committee to explore potential sites for future schools. The Committee is composed of staff from James City County, Williamsburg-James City County (WJCC) Public Schools and the City of Williamsburg. It will be chaired by Assistant County Administrator, Adam Kinsman.
The Committee will evaluate several sites for suitability to meet the projected WJCC Schools near term enrollment growth. Some potential sites have been identified already. However, the group will have flexibility during the process to identify future sites for additional schools if needed. Each site will undergo extensive technical and practical evaluation including its location, ease of access, size and the cost of acquisition and development. It is anticipated that the Committee will have a recommendation by fall 2014. Committee meetings are expected to begin immediately.
