James City County postponements, closings and cancelations update, Jan. 28, 4:15 p.m.
Due to inclement weather, the following scheduling changes have been made to ensure the safety of citizens and staff:
Board of Supervisors
The Work Session and the 7 p.m. Regular Meeting and James City Service Authority (JCSA) Board of Directors Meeting are postponed.
The Work Session agenda items will be added to the Feb. 4 Work Session at 4 p.m.
The Regular Meeting agenda items will be covered during the regularly scheduled Feb. 11 Board meeting at 7 p.m.
The JCSA Meeting agenda items will be covered during the regularly scheduled Feb. 25 meeting at 7 p.m.
Development Review Committee
The Jan. 29 James City County Development Review Committee Meeting is postponed to Feb. 5 at 6:30 pm in the Building F Board Room at the James City County Government Center, 101 Mounts Bay Rd.
The Transfer Station located at 1204 Jolly Pond Rd. will be closed on Jan. 29. It will be open to all County residents, including commercial customers, on Saturday, Feb. 1 from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to make up for the Jan. 29 closure. For payment information and minimal disposal requirements, call 757-565-1279. No tires, batteries, liquids, appliances, medical or hazardous waste are accepted. The Transfer Station is operated by Waste Management and all waste is hauled to a Subtitle D, State-regulated landfill located in Charles City County. The Transfer Station is typically closed to commercial customers on Saturdays and Sundays.
Curbside recycling will not be collected tomorrow, Jan. 29 but will be made up on Saturday, Feb. 1. Please have your bin out for service by 7 a.m.
Parks and Recreation
James City County Recreation Center and the Abram Frink Jr. Community Center (formerly James River) will close at 6 p.m. Jan. 28. For the latest information on Center operating hours, call 757-259-4200. For information on County parks, call 757-259-5360.
County emergency officials urge residents to monitor local media for the latest updates. County closings and weather-related information will be posted on the County website, Cox Cable Channel 48, Facebook, Twitter and the County’s emergency hotline, 757-875-2424.
