DUI Awareness

DUI Awareness and educating individuals about the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol and drugs is a priority for the police department.   Drunk drivers claim the lives of many people in the United States each year which is why educating youths on the dangers of driving impaired is so important.  Driving under the influence is something that is completely preventable which is why it is important to educate those about the dangers of it.  The police department offers school based programs and activities to educate individuals on these dangers.  The Every 30 Minutes Program, Simulated Impaired Driving Experience (SIDNE), and Fatal Vision goggles are all educational programs designed to help prevent drunk driving.  Please see the links for each for more detailed information on these DUI Awareness Programs.

Please contact Sgt. Jeff Vellines at 757-259-5162 or any School Resource Officer for more information on any of these programs.
