Highway Safety Task Force

The Highway Safety Task Force is comprised of officers assigned to patrol shifts or other Units or Divisions within the Department that volunteer to work selective overtime enforcement projects to target highway safety issues such as speeding, drunk-driving and occupant protection violations.  These officers are dedicated to helping prevent crashes and reduce injuries and deaths on our highways that occur from these violations.

The Highway Safety Task Force participates in programs such as “Click It or Ticket” and “Checkpoint Strike Force.”  stopped for drunk drivingThe officers participate in sobriety checkpoints and conduct DUI saturation patrols.  The Highway Safety Task Force is out in force around holidays and during times when other special events are celebrated.

The Highway Safety Task Force is funded by the Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Grant.  This grant provides overtime funds to police departments throughout the Commonwealth to target highway safety concerns such as drunk-driving, speeding and seatbelt violations.
