Come enjoy this 140-acre park located on the Chickahominy River.  This park has something for every member of your family to enjoy.  Facilities include two outdoor swimming pools, boat ramp, fishing pier, camp sites, a playground, picnic shelters, a small store and access to the Virginia Capital Trail.  You can bring your own boat or rent one at the park to enjoy fishing or exploring the Chickahominy River and Gordon Creek.  There is space for monthly rental of boat and RV storage. The large fields and picnic shelters are available for special events.

Camping at Chickahominy Riverfront Park

 

Chickahominy Riverfront Park features 161 campsites located on a bluff, above water.  Several camp sites have scenic views of the waterfront and ten basic tent sites have water access.  Check-in time is 1 p.m. or later, check-out time is before 11 a.m.  You may reserve a campsite up to 60 days in advance. Camping reservations are made by calling the park office at 757-258-5020.

 

You must reside in James City County or Williamsburg to qualify for the resident rate.

Boat Rental at Chickahominy Riverfront Park


Canoes, kayaks and jon boats are available for rent at Chickahominy Riverfront Park.  There is a two-hour minimum for all boat rentals, and rentals must be returned at least 90 minutes before the store closes. To rent a boat, you will need to visit the park store for a rental agreement, complete the agreement and pay the rental fee.  Our staff will set up your boat which includes all necessary equipment, such as life jackets, oars, and paddles. 

 

Fishing Tournaments (Special Event)

 

Fishing tournaments held at Chickahominy Riverfront Park may be deemed a special event if it meets any of the following criteria:

 

  • Banners, flyers, logos, posters, sponsorships, or any other form of advertisement will be on display  
  • A trailer and/or other form of weigh station will be used 
  • Use of a designated campsite as a weigh area for 30 or more boats
  • Use of any park amenity or space that goes beyond intended use as determined by James City County Parks and Recreation  


Tournaments meeting any of the above criteria may be reserved up to 12 months in advance of the scheduled event.  For more information and/or to schedule a special event fishing tournament, please call Stephanie DeBord at 757-259-5360.  Organizers must complete a Park Use Permit Application.    

 

Fishing Tournaments (Standard)

 

Standard fishing tournaments are not considered a special event if:

 

  • None of the criteria is met for a special event
  • Weigh-in is conducted in the boat trailer parking lot on a table no larger than 72” x 30”.  Please note that the table must be adjacent to one of the boat trailers participating in the tournament.
  • Use of a designated campsite as a weigh area for 29 or fewer boats.

 

Tournaments meeting any of the above criteria may reserve a designated campsite up to 60 days in advance of the scheduled event.  For more information and/or to reserve a campsite for a standard fishing tournament, please call Chickahominy Riverfront Park at 757-258-5020.

 

Boat ramp fees for all tournaments are $5 for James City County and City of Williamsburg residents.  The boat ramp fee for non-residents is $8.  Boat ramp fees will be waived if participants camp at the park during the tournament.  The tournament organizer or their designee is responsible for collecting all boat ramp fees from participants and paying the collected fees at one time in the registration office.

 

Boat Storage at Chickahominy Riverfront Park

The park offers year-round storage opportunities within a fenced environment with secure gate access. Call or drop by and we’ll be happy to answer any questions and give you a tour of the facility.
