About the Program
The Home Energy Loss Prevention (HELP) program includes all current and future energy programs managed by the Housing Unit.
This program focuses on giving you the tools and understanding to improve the health, safety and energy efficiency of your home.
The HELP program assists local area contractors in obtaining certification as Building Performance Institute (BPI),
Certified Building Envelope Analysts and
BPI Certified Air Leakage Control Installers. The program has enabled homeowners to have energy assessments performed on their homes and receive grant funding or low-interest loans to make their homes more energy efficient.
Program Funding
Funding for the HELP program is provided through a Climate Showcase Communities grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals, and Energy (DMME).
