James City County Parks & Recreation is seeking after-hours caretakers for the Chickahominy Riverfront Park campground. While maintaining security within the park, the selected applicant would also assist with overall park maintenance such as cleaning restrooms and bathrooms nightly, walking the campground nightly after quiet hours (10 p.m.), and remaining on call as a point of contact. Issues that might occur while on duty include responding to disruptive campers, broken water spigots or other equipment and assisting campers unable to find their sites. Training will be provided as well as a list of appropriate contacts (maintenance, the police etc.) to resolve all issues. In exchange, the caretaker will be provided with a free full hook-up RV spot (you must provide your own RV) which includes water, electric and sewer at no charge. The position starts near the beginning of May, and will cover a 3-month period. The selected candidate should be available to work 5 days a week, with weekend and holiday availability especially important. Interviews will likely begin in late March/early April.
For more information, contact Erik Lavender or Ben Knecht by email or phone at 757-258-5020 during park operating hours.
