Virginia Homeless Solutions Program (VHSP)

The purpose of VHSP is to provide temporary rental or mortgage assistance and supportive services related to housing and financial literacy issues for individuals and families experiencing a financial crisis and being evicted to try to remain housed.

This program also assists individuals and families residing in shelters or on the street to be rapidly rehoused.

The program may provide individuals with:

  • Housing counseling
  • Security deposit assistance
  • Short-term rental assistance

Eligibility

This program is available to James City County, City of Williamsburg and Upper York County residents. Individuals in housing crisis need to call the Housing Crisis Hotline to complete the intake process - referrals and resources will be suggested.

We may be required to collect some personal information by law or by organizations that give us money to operate this program.  Other personal information that we collect is important to run our programs, to improve services for homeless persons, and to better understand the needs of homeless persons.  We only collect information that we consider to be appropriate.

The collection and use of all personal information is guided by strict standards of confidentiality.  A copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices is available to all Clients upon request.
