About the Exemption

The owner of the vehicle should submit an Disabled Individuals Vehicle Exemption Application (PDF), along with documentation of the type of equipment which has been installed and the date of installation in order to qualify for this exemption.

Examples of qualifying equipment are lift or ramp for wheelchairs or scooters, hand- or foot-operated controls, raised door and roof to allow wheelchair entry, etc. The exemption applies to vehicles which are used by the owner for transport of any member of his household.
