Stream Restoration Project - March 2016
Scope of Work
This project consists of the stabilization of outfalls and stream banks to reduce erosion caused by uncontrolled runoff from the upstream cemetery and Scott’s Pond neighborhood. This project will provide stabilization to the eroding stream and protect adjacent properties from undermining due to erosion. Additionally, this stream restoration will provide significant water quality benefits and contribute to meeting the County’s permit obligations for the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (CBTMDL) requirements.

Status of Project
An environmental investigation and engineering design has been completed by Stantec/Williamsburg Environmental Group. Stormwater Local Assistance Fund (SLAF) grant applications were submitted to the DEQ in October 2014. A grant of $91,800 was awarded to James City County for the project. Design was completed June 2015 and approval is pending a final review. The project was put out for bid in September 2015 and the contract was awarded to Angler Environmental Services in October 2015. Work began at the end of November 2015 and was completed on time and under budget in early February 2016.
