While there are plenty of things to explore in James City County, we thought you might like 18 suggestions of things to do in 2018.

  1. Enjoy the Williamsburg Tasting Trail, which includes the Williamsburg Winery and Billsburg Brewery.
  2. Bike the eight miles of Virginia Capital Trail that are located in James City County. If you feel inspired, keep on riding the 52 miles of trail to Richmond.
  3. Explore the 17 parks in James City County. With more than 46 miles of trails, there really is something for everyone.
  4. Explore York River State Park (YRSP). This state-owned park has more than 30 miles of hiking, mountain biking and equestrian trails, which allow visitors to explore the marsh, river shoreline and forests. YRSP also has a boat ramp, fresh and salt water fishing spots, a fishing pier, playgrounds and picnic shelters. Seasonal boat and recreational equipment rentals are available. Make sure to check out the YRSP event calendar for activities such as guided hikes and stargazing.
  5. Make a hole-in-one at one of the 198 holes of golf in James City County.
  6. Plan to visit five new-to-you restaurants in James City County.
  7. Experience 360 degrees of adventure on the new Battle For Eire ™, the new action virtual reality ride at Busch Gardens ® Williamsburg, which opens in 2018.
  8. Attend the 2018 Kingsmill Championship, the only Ladies Professional Golf Association event in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  9. Pick Virginia grown produce at MillFarm Christmas Tree & Berry Farm, KelRae Farm, Pumpkinville or one of the other local farms.
  10. Go camping at Chickahominy Riverfront Park. We highly suggest one of the waterfront campsites for an unforgettable sunset!
  11. Try something new like racing a go-kart or ziplining. We’ve got both in James City County.
  12. Tap into your inner creativity with an art class at the DIY Workshop or Artfully Yours Studio.
  13. Learn about history at Historic Jamestowne and Jamestown Settlement. There are numerous special events throughout the year that highlight topics that may interest you.
  14. Plan to attend one of many great live music events such as the Winter Blues Jazz Fest, Uncorked and Unplugged at the Williamsburg Winery or Jamestown Jams at Jamestown Beach Event Park.
  15. Make it your goal this year to explore the outdoors. Whether your preference is to be on the water or in the woods, there are plenty of options for more outdoor adventure in 2018!
  16. Visit the highest point in James City County – Fox Wire Farm Alpacas. While you’re there, take a farm tour and meet a menagerie of animals.
  17. Feeling athletically inclined? Sign up for one of three triathlons in James City County.
  18. Go to one of the many special events at Busch Gardens Williamsburg including the Food & Wine Festival, Bier Fest, Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town. All of these events are so much fun!
