[ARCHIVED] Board of Supervisors Seeks Applicants to Serve on Planning Commission and Other Committees

Volunteers Needed for County Boards, Commissions and Committees

Did you make a resolution to get involved in your community? Here’s your opportunity! The James City County Board of Supervisors is looking for citizens to serve on boards, commissions and committees. Applications are accepted and considered on a rolling basis.

Current vacancies include:

Planning Commission
The Commission advises the Board of Supervisors on rezoning requests and other zoning map changes; prepares land use and planning studies and land development ordinances for consideration by the Board of Supervisors and approves subdivision applications.

Board of Building Adjustments and Appeals
The Board renders fair and competent decisions regarding application of the Uniform Statewide Building Code and to the extent possible, represents different occupational or professional fields relating to the construction industry.

Thomas Nelson Community College Board
The Board serves as a liaison between the college president, community and the Virginia State Board for Community Colleges.

Agricultural and Forestal Districts Advisory Committee
The Committee reviews applications for the creation, modification and renewal of agricultural and forestal districts.

Other County boards and commissions include the Historical Commission, the Clean County Commission, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, Williamsburg Regional Library Board of Directors, the Williamsburg Area Arts Commission and the Stormwater Program Advisory Committee.
