James City County Police Department patrol vehicle

Places of worship are often where we feel most safe, but in fact they can be extremely vulnerable. James City County Police Department, in conjunction with the Virginia Fusion Center, is providing Safety for Faith-Based Organizations on March 5, 8 a.m.-noon (with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m.). This presentation will provide information as to how religious organizations can be welcoming and safe at the same time. The class will consist of discussion of threat and vulnerabilities to houses of worship and mitigation strategies on how to fill security gaps. We will also be discussing the mindset of preparedness in dealing with threats to people as they go about their daily lives.

Signups are limited to pastors, elders, trustees, church security team members and other key organization personnel involved with safety and security that are associated with a faith-based organizations in James City County.
