New County Administrator

James City County is seeking an experienced local government professional to serve as our next County Administrator.

The County Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer of the County. Appointed by the Board of Supervisors, the Administrator serves at the pleasure of the Board and is responsible for the execution of policies the Board establishes. The Administrator is expected to handle the daily operations of the County, as well as recommend service and policy improvements, develop an annual budget for Board consideration and approval, generally guide the work of County employees and ensure that the affairs of the County are conducted in an effective, responsible and ethical manner.

The ideal candidate will be a leader, collaborator, communicator and manager. Desired experience and characteristics include the ability to lead, delegate, motivate and inspire with a willingness to hear everyone, build consensus and drive decision-making to conclusion.
