James City
County’s REC Connect program is available to middle school students, offering
after school and break programs for youth attending Berkeley, Lois S. Hornsby
and Toano middle schools. The middle school after-school program is available Monday-Friday, school
dismissal to 6 p.m. The program is held at the James City County Recreation
Center, and transportation is provided daily from the middle schools to the
Recreation Center.
Youth can take part in a variety of fun and educational
programs each day – from games (athletic and cooperative), to character
development, arts and crafts, health and wellness as well as having a safe
place to hang with friends. Daily snack provided.
Registration is required. The middle
school after-school program weekly fee is $50, or $45 for James City County and
Williamsburg residents. You can also get a 10 visit punch card for $110, or $105
for James City County/Williamsburg residents. Registration forms and

The REC Connect youth and teen program has been providing safe and enjoyable summer camps, before- and after-school programs and school break experiences for over 30 years! The year-round partner-coordinated program is offered with the Williamsburg-James City County School system – featuring a before- and after-school program in the elementary schools, and an after-school program in the middle schools. All summer camps and before- and after-school programs are state-licensed. Programs are closed in observances of holidays.
