buzzed driving is drunk driving

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), during the 2016 St. Patrick’s Day holiday period, 39% of all national motor vehicle crash fatalities involved drunk drivers. Between midnight and 5:59 a.m. the following day, 69% of all crash fatalities involved drunk drivers. In fact, from 2012 to 2016, 38% of the drunk-driving fatalities during this holiday period involved drivers who had blood alcohol concentrations (BACs) well above the .08 limit, with 269 drunk-driving fatalities total.

As a result, JCCPD will be increasing DUI patrols throughout the weekend in an effort to combat impaired drivers in the County. Celebrators are encouraged to arrange a safe ride home prior to going out if you intend to drink. Additionally, all motorists are reminded to always buckle up.
