Learn to Swim, Free Swim Evaluations
There are individual registration periods before each swim lesson session. Registration for May classes is open April 17-27. Registration is accepted at the James City County Recreation Center and online at Aquatics. Having trouble deciding
which swim level is appropriate for your child? Our certified Water SafetyInstructor will be available 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24
 and Wednesday, April 25 to provide free swim

Before- and After- School Camps
REC Connect
Looking for summer camp or Before/After School programs for your child? The REC Connect program is open to youth ages 5-14, enrolled in grades K-8. One registration packet may be used for both Summer Camp 2018 and the Before & After School 2018-19 programs. Registrations accepted on a first-come, first-served basis according to postmark date and space availability. Registration forms and program information is available online and at the Recreation Centers, Freedom Park Interpretive Center and the Satellite Services Office in Toano. Buddy Ball is provided in partnership with the Williamsburg Youth Baseball League. Players are assisted one-on-one, where appropriate, by volunteer buddies who make it possible to adapt play to individual player needs. The “Arc of Abilities” began in 2016 to support adults withintellectual and developmental disabilities who do not have a Medicaid waiver.
The Day Support Program provides continuing education, life skills andvocational training. In addition, clients are engaged in fitness, recreational

Award-winning nature photographer Bob Schamerhorn will share information packed with tips and experiences on how to improve any property for a diversity of wildlife. Schamerhorn will show specific examples and results of a suburban landscape becoming inviting to a variety of birds, butterflies, insects and mammals. Following the program, Master Gardeners will be available in the Williamsburg Botanical Garden to discuss what’s in bloom. A $5 donation to help the Williamsburg Botanical Garden grow is appreciated. Join us on the first Saturday of every month this spring for a nature program andguided walk on the new Living Forest Interpretive Trail! One of our expert
nature guides will present a nature program on a different topic each month,then lead children and their parents on a trip through the forest to learn
about plants, wildlife, insects and anything else we may encounter! The natureprogram will take place at the Freedom Park Interpretive Center. The walks will
begin at the Freedom Park playground, 
with a new walk starting every 30 minutes. Weather permitting. 

Native Plants Versus Nectar Plants (all ages) Free!

Most people who garden want to attract beneficial animals and insects to their yards. Native plants are often part of the plan, but sometimes non-natives work great as nectar plants for butterflies, bees and some birds. Stop by this session to learn about striking a balance in your yard by providing host plants as well as nectar sources for the wildlife you want to attract to your garden.

Bring a blanket/pillow and join us for family friendly movie nights held inside the multipurpose room.  Popcorn and drinks provided. Bikes Out of Hibernation, Free!

Looking for an opportunity to get your bike out of “hibernation?” Free safety inspections, assistance for minor repairs, greasing, fitting as well as fun rides to “knock the rust off” after winter. Rides of 2, 5, 10 and 15 miles on the Virginia Capital Trail led by experienced leaders. Rides scheduled to start at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Riders younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Light refreshments provided.
