In response to a stormwater erosion
problem at Jamestown Beach Event Park, work is underway to install a storm
drainage system and bio-retention facility as well as to make improvements to
the park’s existing ADA-accessible walkway. The project begins June 4, and may
take up to 10 days to complete. To complete the work as quickly as possible,
several closures are required:
- The walkway, located between the parking area and the park’s concession/restroom building including the drop off/loading loop, will close during the project. ADA-accessible parking in the loop will not be available during this period; however, visitors who require ADA-accessible parking will be able to use the park’s emergency and service entrance near the ferry security building until construction is complete. Visitors must check in at the Attendant Booth at the new entrance.
- The concessions/restroom facility will be closed on Monday and
Tuesday, June 4-5 for concrete work, but the duration may change due to
weather. Two portable toilets, one standard and one wheelchair accessible, will be available during the facility closure.
The beachfront will remain open during the work. The paddle craft launch area will also remain open and visitors may continue to use this area for loading/unloading. The Park is located at 2205 Jamestown Road.
Park patrons should be attentive to construction equipment and workers in the area.
