Father’s Day is June 17. Why not pick one of these activities and spend some time with your dad?
Take dad to a local attraction where he can go back to his childhood such as Go-Karts Plus or Busch Gardens Williamsburg where he can settle into having fun and having a good time with his own kids. Go-Karts Plus has both mini golf and go karting, which is sure to be a blast.
Two other options are The Zone at the WISC also has laser tag and a laser maze that may be of interest. If you need something a little slower paced, maybe a couple games of bowling would be right up your dad’s alley.
Tip: Through July 1, Busch Gardens Williamsburg is hosting their Food & Wine Festival.
If your dad loves a good burger and a beer, head out to Craft 31 on Strawberry Plains Road and treat him to a great meal. All the burgers at Craft 31 are cooked in a cast iron skillet.
Tip: Craft 31 offers Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
If burgers aren’t your dad’s favorite, try Two Drummers Smokehouse in Toano which is known for its smoked meats and modern southern fare. We love the Two Drummers Reuben – so tasty!
Tip: Try the freshly made pork rinds, they are unbelievable!
We know that most dads like golf. James City County is home to nearly a dozen local courses to choose from and area courses present demanding yet rewarding challenges to golfers of all skill levels. Golf is available at Colonial Heritage Golf Club, Ford’s Colony Country Club, Kingsmill Resort, Kiskiack Golf Club, the Tradition Golf Club at Stonehouse and Williamsburg National. Reserve your tee time today!
Tip: Check the ExploreJCCVA website for summaries of each golf course.
Why not schedule some outdoor adventure with dad? You can rent a kayak at the James City County Marina or Chickahominy Riverfront Park and take a paddle with dad! This is a great treat for any dad who loves the water.
Tip: Bicycles can also be rented from the James City County Marina and you can ride the nearby Virginia Capital Trail. After your adventure at the marina, you can grab a fresh beer from Billsburg Brewery, which is also located at the marina.
If your dad prefers to stay on dry land, make an appointment to test his skills at Go Ape. The challenging tree courses and ziplining is fun for everyone.
Tip: Make reservations in advance!
Adventurous dads might also like grabbing the fishing rods, lures and licenses to take it back to a more relaxed moment in time where stillness yields great reward.
Tip: There are locations for pier fishing, boat fishing and bank fishing in the County.
There are also many other parks for walking or biking in James City County. You could even take dad camping for a night at Chickahominy Riverfront Park.
Tip: There are events at York River State Park on Father’s Day.
