[ARCHIVED] Fire Crews Respond to Fire at Metal Recycling Business

James City County firefighters responded to a report of several vehicles on fire at a metal recycling business in Toano on July 18. A 911 call was received shortly after 10 a.m. reporting a fire in a stack of salvaged vehicles at the facility in the 8900 block of Richmond Road.

Firefighters from the James City Bruton Volunteer and James City County Fire Departments arrived to find heavy fire conditions involving multiple vehicles that were being processed for recycling.

The incident was brought under control shortly after 11 a.m. There were no injuries and no damages to buildings. Fire marshals from James City County are investigating the incident.

Units from the New Kent County Fire Department and York County Department of Fire And Life Safety assisted.
